How to use macros
To Open a macro file
- Launch FLDigi
- Click File | Macros | Open...
- Navigate your harddive to the location where you saved the macro file.
- Select the macro file and click Open.
How to change how macros appear in FLDigi
You can position the macros in a myriad of different positions around the FLDigi window.
- Click Configure | Config Dialog.
- Expand the UI section by clicking the plus (+) next to UI.
- Click Macro Buttons.
- Click circle next to the desired scheme.
- The buttons can appear in one or two rows.
- As you click a circle next to a scheme, the position of the macro bar will change in real time in FLDigi.
- "Two Scheme 3" is the recommend scheme. This puts two rows of macro buttons near (directly underneath) the transmit window.
- Click the Save button to save the configuration.
- Click the Close button to close the config window.
If you want/need four rows of macros...
- Click View on the main FLDigi window.
- Select "View/Hide 48 Macros".
- There is only one position option for the 48 macro view -- above the receive window.
- This setting overrides whatever scheme you selected in the Config Dialog.
How to use a macro
- Click the button you wish to execute.
- Some macros will begin transmitting as soon as you click the button.
- Other macros (e.g. UHF Rpt) require you to modify the text before transmitting.
- In such cases, the contents of the macro will be displayed in the transmit window.
- Make changes to the text as needed (e.g. transmit power, traffic type, etc.)
- Position your cursor to the right or below the "^r" at the bottom of the text.
- Click the T/R button, if necessary.
How to edit a macro
- Right-click the macro button you wish to enter. The Macro Editor window will open.
- The left pane contains the contents of the macro.
- The right pane contains a list of "tags" or commands you can use to direct FLDigi.
- Each comment begins with a comment that describes the purpose of the macro.
- Make desired modifications to the information in the left pane.
- Adjust the title of the macro by changing the text in the Macro Button Label field at the bottom of the window.
- Click the Apply button to save the macro.
- Click the Close button to close the Macro Editor window.
How to transmit a text file using FLAmp (Windows)
- Open Notepad, type your message and save your file as a .txt file. (Remember where you save it!)
- Open FLAmp.
- Click the Transmit tab.
- Click the Add button.
- Navigate through the folder structure to where you saved your file.
- Double click the file. (You will be returned to the FLAmp screen.)
- In the "Send to" field, type the callsign of the station to whom you are sending the file.
- In the "Send to" field, erase QST and type N7TMS
- To transmit the file, click Xmit.
